Findings: Crime victimization rates vary widely across the country

IHDS I was the first national survey to collect crime victimization data: 

4.8% of Indian households reported a theft in the last year;

1.2% reported a burglary;

3.2% reported an assault.

Altogether, 7.3% of households reported at least one of these crimes.
